This is a national public health crisis. The drug landscape is not like how it was a few years ago.
“The combination of more easily available drug — particularly highly potent drugs like fentanyl that are available via social media and through counterfeit pills — and a mental health crisis among adolescents that was exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic is resulting in an increase in overdose deaths among kids”. – NPR News
Project Clear Choice is starting this project with a vision of saving even a single life. We’re not looking to change the world right now, but if we could save just one person, we believe that our project has extreme value. By de-stigmatizing conversations about addiction and drug misuse, we hope that teens who might be struggling will be more open to seeking help.
There are multiple ways for students to contribute. You can become a leader by finding your own Project Clear Choice chapter and expanding the initiative to educate students within your community, you can become a mentor for middle schoolers by becoming a peer-to-peer supporter with necessary mental health first aid training, or join the broad Project Clear Choice leadership team where we carry out many impactful projects with the goal of saving one more person.
